**Lifeguards 

  • Duties include monitoring pool and waterslide patrons, pool maintenance, swim instruction and other duties as required. 
  • Hourly wage starts at $17 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.  
  • Position requires applicant to be 15 years of age or older. 
  • Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification**, First Aid and CPR certifications** prior to the pool opening. Training is available. 
  • Scheduled hours: 
    1. Weekends beginning the middle of May, 15 - 20 hours per weekend 
    2. Weekdays and weekends (full weeks) June - August, 36 - 40 hours per week 
    3. Weekends from the end of August to Labor Day, 15 - 20 hours per weekend 
  • Must be able to work most weekends, holidays and some evenings. 

Pool Attendants 

  • Duties include operating pool concessions, gate cashier, maintenance and operations of concessions and waterslides and customer service. 
  • Hourly wage starts at $15 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. 
  • Position requires applicant to be 16 years of age or older. 
  • Scheduled hours: 
    1. Weekends beginning the middle of May, 15-20 hours per weekend 
    2. Weekdays and weekends (full weeks) June - August, 36 - 40 hours per week 
    3. Weekends from the end of August to Labor Day, 15 - 20 hours per weekend
  • Must be able to work most weekends, holidays and some evenings. 

**PLEASE NOTE:  ALL Lifeguards, Assistant Pool Managers and Pool Managers must be certified by the American Red Cross for First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Lifeguarding prior to opening day of the pool. Certification classes will be available for free prior to the opening of the pool, if needed. Certification is paid for by the Parks & Recreation Department.

 Seasonal Park Attendants - Maintenance 

  • Duties include park grounds maintenance, mowing, trimming, park cleanup, assisting marina staff with boat rentals and shelter reservations and providing excellent customer service.

  • Position requires applicants to be 16 years of age or older.  
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays. 
  • Scheduled hours: 
    • Weekends beginning the middle of April through May, 15 hours per weekend

  • Duties include operating rides (train and carousel), concessions, maintenance and operations of related equipment and providing excellent customer service. 
  • Hourly wage starts at $15 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.  
  • Position requires applicant to be 16 years of age or older. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays. 
  • Scheduled hours: 
    1. Weekends beginning the middle of April through May, 15 hours per weekend 
    2. Weekdays and weekends (full weeks) June - August, 36 - 40 hours per week
    3. Weekends from the end of August to middle of October, 15 hours per weekend

 Seasonal Park Attendant 

  • Duties include picking up litter, mowing, raking, weed eating, planting shrubbery and flowers, painting and maintaining equipment.   
  • Hourly wage starts at $15 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.  
  • Position requires applicant to be at least 18 years of age or older, be able to lift 50 pounds or more and be able to work in all weather conditions. A valid driver's license is required. 
  • Applicant must be able to work 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Seasonal Park Attendant  - Tennis

  • Duties include greeting tennis patrons, opening and closing the facility, taking reservations, collecting and counting fees, recording tennis lesson registrations and receipts, preparing daily expense and revenue reports/deposits, loading and unloading items and equipment, assisting in clay court preparation and assisting in daily clean-up of all tennis facilities. 
  • Must be 16 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license.  
  • Hourly wage starts at $15 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.  
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.  

Summer Camp Programs 


Summer Camp Counselors

  • Duties include supervision of participants in a summer camp setting, participating in all activities with campers, supervision on field trips, behavior management and planning and leading activities. 
  • Summer Camp locations: Oakview, Allen Jay, and Deep River Recreation Centers 
  • Hourly wage starts at $15.25 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.  
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a 15-passenger van.  
  • Previous experience working with elementary and middle school aged children is preferred.  
  • Candidate must be available 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule between 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, June - August.  

Sports Camp Counselors

  • Duties include planning and implementing exciting activities, drills and games for various sports each day, as well as developing and enhancing camper’s coordination, cardio, sports skills and knowledge through coaching and one-on-one instruction. 
  • Sports Camp Location:  Morehead Recreation Center 
  • Hourly wage starts at $15.25 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.   
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a 15-passenger van.  
  • Applicants who have playing or coaching experience are preferred. Previous experience working with children could include teaching, coaching, camp counselor, youth volunteer coach, etc.   
  • Candidate must be available 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Camp is two 3-week sessions, one in June and one in July. 

Camp Ann Assistant Director

  • Duties include assisting with planning, scheduling, implementing, supervising and evaluating recreation programs for a summer day camp for children and adults with disabilities, as well as assisting with training, supervising and evaluating counselors and volunteers. Employee also assists with monitoring all activities, facilities and equipment for feasibility, safety and accessibility. 
  • Camp Ann location: High Point City Lake Park Meeting & Event Center
  • Hourly wage starts at $17.25 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. 
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a 15-passenger van. 
  • Prefer individuals who have worked in a therapeutic camp setting with people of differing abilities. 
  • Candidate must be available 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule between Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. -  4 p.m., June - August.
