Overview:
The City of High Point Youth Advisory Council (YAC) provides area high schoolers with the opportunity to participate in local government and advise the High Point Human Relations Commission and City Council on creating new policies and programs. In addition, as peer ambassadors, all YAC members will develop their leadership and community-building skills while learning more about the City of High Point through field trips and activities.
Every high schooler (ages 14-18) interested in civic engagement are encouraged to apply, regardless of ability, gender identity, race, color, national origin, religion, or financial status. YAC members earn a minimum of 30 service hours and may make additional hours through optional attendance at community activities.
There is no cost to participate in the YAC. Additionally, all YAC meetings will include morning snacks and box lunches; upon request in advance, any YAC member can receive transportation to and from each session.
Attendance Policy:
The 2022 Youth Advisory Council will meet on the following dates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendance at meetings is required for participation. Members who miss more than one meeting could be dismissed from the YAC.
