Reproduction & Use Policy & Fees
Reproduction and use fees go towards the preservation of the High Point Historical Society's collections. Please refer to this information on how to obtain copies and for a fee schedule. The High Point Museum reserves the right to restrict the reproduction of any collection materials.
Copyright Law
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions, specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
Therefore, the granting of permission by the High Point Historical Society to publish a copy of an image held in its collection does not absolve users from securing permission from copyright owners and payment of such additional fees as the copyright owners may require if the High Point Historical Society does not own copyright or if the material is not in the public domain. Users assume all responsibility for questions of copyright and invasion of privacy that may arise in copying and in the use made of the copy.
