Advanced Camp: Croatan National Forest and Bogue Banks
Full Description
Advanced Camp is designed for middle school students with a sense of adventure and a sincere interest in studying the environment. Campers will explore natural and cultural history first-hand by visiting the Longleaf Pine Forest of Croatan National Forest, the coastal aquatic habitats of Bogue Banks and the local communities of Emerald Isle, Swansboro and Morehead City. Field trips include canoeing the White Oak River, Aurora Fossil Museum, Hammocks Beach State Park, Fort Macon State Park and the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. Fee includes staff naturalist guides, transportation, campsite, meals and all entrance and activity fees. Participants and an adult guardian must attend a pre-trip planning meeting at PEC on August 10 at 6 p.m. Please call 336.883.8531 for more information or to register.
Campers need to arrive at PEC by 9am on Monday and will return to PEC in the afternoon on Friday.
Participants must have attended PEC camps in the past or arrange an interview with PEC staff.
