[ARCHIVED] Lecture Planned at High Point Museum

The High Point Historical Society Monthly Guild Series will be Wednesday, October 25 at 10 a.m. at the High Point Museum, located at 1859 E. Lexington Ave. This program is free and open to the public

June Lucas, Director of Research at Old Salem Museums and Gardens (OSMG) in Winston-Salem, will be the featured speaker. Lucas oversees the Anne P. and Thomas A. Gray Library and Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) Research Center. A native of Lenoir, North Carolina, Lucas received her B.A. in English from Meredith College and M.A. in English from Appalachian State University. She taught English in the North Carolina community college system for sixteen years prior to her work at Old Salem and MESDA.

Lucas has written articles for a variety of publications regarding southern decorative arts, especially Piedmont North Carolina furniture. She will be discussing The Swisegood School of Cabinetmaking during this program.

The High Point Museum, a division of the High Point Public Library, is dedicated to sharing Greater High Point’s history, providing perspective for current issues, and strengthening the sense of community.
