[ARCHIVED] Understanding Hoopla’s Daily Borrow Limit

Do you love Hoopla like we love Hoopla? If so, then you might have seen a message recently that your "collective daily borrow limit" has been reached. But what does that mean?

The library's "collective daily borrow limit" is based on the total checkouts from every library customer that day; when we reach the daily limit, no individual customer can check out a Hoopla item until the spending limit resets. (The limit used to reset early in the evening, but Hoopla has changed it to 12:00 a.m.)

It’s possible for the library to reach our collective daily borrow limit even though you personally haven’t checked anything out in a long time because the collective limit is different from your individual limit of 3 checkouts per month.

But what can you do about it? If you receive this message, our best advice is to try again the next morning-earlier is better because more people will checkout as the day goes on.

We're glad so many people love Hoopla!
