[ARCHIVED] Museum Closed to Public

To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the High Point Museum is closed to the public and all public programs, events and meetings have been cancelled. We also are not accepting new artifact donations while we are closed.  Please visit our website www.highpointmuseum.org and our social media accounts for updates.

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this unusual time. The city has closed the High Point Museum, Library, Theatre, and Recreation Centers for an indefinite period of time to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This closure includes all programs, meetings and events until further notice.

Because of the Center for Disease Control’s determination that the virus can live on paper and plastic for several days, we have decided to suspend accepting new artifact donations while we are closed. However, people are still welcome to call (336-885-1859) or email the Museum if they have something they would like to donate, and we will arrange a time for them to bring it in to the Museum later once things are back to normal.

Museum staff remains healthy at this point and is working with city officials to determine how much they will be working onsite or remotely in the coming weeks. Even though the Museum is closed to the public, there are still many tasks that staff can do in the Museum with regards to artifact care, exhibit research, facility cleaning, staff training, and so forth. We will continue to keep our members and the public updated through the Museum’s website, social media, and eblasts as things develop. Please remember there are a number of historical resources available through the Museum’s website including online exhibits and a portion of our artifact collections database.
