Director's Message

Here we are entering another new season. Things have improved enough that we've been able to open our Historical Park on Saturdays, and we've enjoyed welcoming some of you back already. Opening the Museum building is a little more complicated, but we're making steady progress with our preparations to create the safest environment possible for you. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
As we move through the fall and toward the holiday season, there are some annual programs at the Museum we know you have come to love and anticipate. They aren't going to look exactly the same this year, but we're doing our best to offer them in some format to help us all maintain a little sense of normalcy in this uncertain year of 2020.
October is also family history month. We encourage you to make an effort to pass on your favorite family stories to the next generation and spend time together creating new ones.

Our costumed blacksmith is here every Saturday (through December) from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Come watch his demonstrations!

Join us for our 9th Annual Ghost Stories with pumpkin decorating all day in the Historical Park (while supplies last) - Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Then at 6 p.m. join us for a Facebook Watch Party as Museum staff share a few eerie tales of local history haunts and creepy experiences for the young and old.
Watch for links on social media throughout the week to get you in the mood for this annual event.

Join the High Point Museum and the YWCA Latino Family Center for a virtual experience about the Day of the Dead (Día De Los Muertos) October 31 - November 2. A Latin American holiday originating in Mexico, learn about the traditions and activities to honor your loved ones that have passed away.

High Point Historical Society - How Did We Get Here Series - Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m.
High Point Museum Director Edith Brady and Education Curator Sara Blanchett will give an overview of the history of the Women’s Suffrage movement and share documents related to High Point suffragists supporting the 19th amendment around 1920.
