Come visit our new updated galleries and exhibits. Masks are required for all visitors inside the Museum. Hand sanitizer is available throughout. Building capacity is limited to allow for social distancing, and each gallery is marked with its maximum capacity.

Congratulations to our Award Winning Registrar!

Corinne Midgett, High Point Museum Registrar, received the NCMC Professional Service Award at the NC Museums Council Annual Meeting in March. This award recognizes career museum professionals whose work and contributions have statewide impact and who have had a depth of experience with museums in North Carolina. In addition to the excellent work she does managing and caring for the artifacts at our museum, Corinne also contributes her expertise to the museum profession. She is currently the chair of the Southeastern Registrars Association and secretary of the NC Preservation Consortium. She also regularly presents workshops and sessions at state and regional museum conferences, provides leadership in the Triad-Area Cultural Resources Emergency Network and NC Cultural Resources Emergency Support Team, and serves as a peer reviewer for federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grants. We're proud to have her as part of our team. Congratulations, Corinne!

Recruiting and Celebrating Volunteers

We had to suspend most of our regular volunteer activities for the past year. As virus cases continue to subside and we move into new phases of re-opening, we will be welcoming volunteers back to the museum. What better way to celebrate National Volunteer Week this April than to begin re-launching our volunteer program! Later this month we will start accepting volunteer applications for people interested in helping greet visitors and assist with museum store sales. We will hold a training later in May. More details coming soon!

Exploring with Old North State Detectorists Club - Rediscovering the Past

Old North State Detectorists Club President Rodney Joslin will share some of the interesting finds his club has uncovered while searching for what lies beneath the surface of the grounds at various North Carolina museums and historic sites they have been invited to investigate. Sponsored by the High Point Historical Society, this program will be presented via Zoom on Wednesday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. Registration is required. Click here to register

Museum Happenings

The Historical Park continues to be open on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Two new outdoor exhibits - "A Short History of a Tall Building" and "The Story of the Little Red Schoolhouse" are on display.
Our costumed blacksmith will be conducting demonstrations Saturdays, April 10, 17 and 24.

As we move into the end of the year and the holiday season, the High Point Museum staff wants to remind and ask for your participation in our COVID-19 Experience Project.
