Blair Park NC Civil Rights Trail Marker DedicationNov. 4 Noon Blair Park, Corner of Nathan Hunt Dr. and S. Main St. High Point, NC
The North Carolina African American Heritage Commission and the High Point Museum will be holding a dedication ceremony for the new historic marker at Blair Park Golf Course. The marker will be included in the North Carolina Civil Rights Trail and celebrates the prominent African American doctors, Perry Little, H.H. Creft, and George Simkins, who protested against the city’s segregated recreational facilities by playing golf at the Blair Park municipal course in December 1954.

High Point Historical Society Presents: High Point City Lake Past and PresentWednesday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m. Join the High Point Historical Society for a discussion about the history and future of the park. Tracy Pegram from High Point Parks and Recreation will talk about the history of the park and the renovations just finished. Participants will have time to walk around and enjoy the exhibit which documents the history of City Lake Park. The program will be at City Lake Park: 602 W. Main St. Jamestown, NC unless otherwise noted.

Longrifle Program at Bethania Historical Society HeadquartersSaturday, Nov. 19, 2:30 p.m. The Bethania Historical Association will host local historian and author C. Michael Briggs for a discussion on his book, “The Longrifle Makers of the Salem School.” The program will take place at the Headquarters of the Bethania Historical Association at 5530 Seidel Street in Bethania.
