Collections Management Internship

The High Point Historical Society seeks an enthusiastic and motivated intern to work on a collections management and community engagement project with HPM Collections staff during the summer of 2023. To apply, email a cover letter, resume, and two letters of reference to corinne.midgett@highpointnc.gov. Questions may be directed to the same email address.

“Unlocking the Door of Opportunity” Documentary Viewing and Talk

Saturday, Feb. 4, 1 – 3 p.m. 
Join the Museum for a viewing of the documentary "Unlocking the Doors of Opportunity," which tells the story of North Carolina's Rosenwald Schools and why the Jim Crow era made them necessary. The documentary was produced by Longleaf Productions and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and Truist. This FREE event is open to the public.

“The Spirit of Harriet Tubman” with Diane Faison

Saturday, Feb. 11, 1 p.m.

Come watch Diane Faison perform her one-person drama "The Spirit of Harriet Tubman." Don't miss this inspiring performance of the life of abolitionist and Underground Railroad worker Harriet Tubman, as we commemorate Black History Month all month long. This event is FREE and open to the public.

High Point Historical Society Presents: The History of CUCC in High Point

Saturday, Feb. 18, 10 a.m. 
The High Point Historical Society will be hosting Angela Roberson, pastor of Congregational United Church of Christ (CUCC). Roberson will take visitors on a journey from Main Street to Fairview Street to Gordon Street as CUCC has made significant contributions to the city of High Point. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Family Game Night

Friday, Feb. 24, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Join the High Point Museum for a fun evening of all sorts of games featuring card and board games along with a scavenger hunt. This FREE event will be fun for children of all ages. Snacks, prizes and more await!

The Montford Point Marines of High Point

Saturday, Feb. 25, 1 p.m.

More than 20,000 African Americans trained in segregated facilities between 1942 and 1949 at Montford Point, NC, and became the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Join us as we recognize, remember and honor the Montford Point Marines of High Point as part of Black History Month. This event is FREE and open to the public.
