Little Red Schoolhouse Opening
Saturday, September 28, 10 am to NoonGo back to school with us at the Little Red Schoolhouse as we officially open it to the public! Join us at 10 a.m. for a ribbon cutting and opening of our Little Free Library. Learn how to write in cursive with quill pens or enjoy a book in the library. In the Historical Park, enjoy a spelling bee or make your own battledore. Play games including corn hole. All activities are from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. but Little Red will remain open to the public until 4 p.m.

While visiting and touring the Little Red Schoolhouse be sure to shop in the Museum Store for your Little Red souvenir including note cards and ornaments.
Museum Staff will have the Little Red Schoolhouse open to the public for activities including crafts, educational activities and storytelling from 10 a.m. to noon the first Wednesday of the month, the third Thursday of the month and the last Saturday of the month.

Washington Street Walking Tour
Changing Tides Cultural Center, 613 Washington St.
Local Historian Glenn Chavis will offer a guided walking tour of historic Washington Street. Washington Street was a thriving business and entertainment district for High Point's black community during the period of segregation. The tour, lasting approximately 90 minutes. Lunch and Jazz - The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Songbook
Tuesday, October 1, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A concert that cuts right to the very soul of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) and a pillar of Jazz at Lincoln Center's mission, this music celebrates the legacy of the America's Orchestra: the big band. Focusing on new pieces by members of the JLCO, as well as JLCO-arranged versions of classic repertoire, this concert serves to highlight the vitality and richness of the big band.
The audience is encouraged to bring their own lunch as lunch will not be provided. Come listen, network, collaborate, and celebrate jazz.
Caring for Your Family Photos - Taking Your Family Collection out of the Shoebox

Morgan Community Room, High Point Public Library
Many people are currently dealing with large collections of family photographs and papers. If you don't know what to do or where to start, it can be overwhelming. It can also potentially lead to long-term damage of the items you want to save. This presentation will feature information on proper care and storage of your family photographs as well as organizing and using them, plus helpful tips on digitizing old images, digital photos, and long-term digital storage. We'll also discuss audio-visual materials, photo albums, and scrapbooks. Participants are encouraged to bring examples from their own collections to share, and useful handouts and sample materials will be available for free. Presented by Marian Inabinett, Curator of Collections at the High Point Museum.

Join us for our 8th Annual Ghost Stories in the Park with s’mores, pumpkin decorating, and face painting from 6 to 7 p.m. Ghost stories told by professional storyteller Cynthia Brown will include tales of pirates, hauntings, and creepy crawlies for the young and old from 7 to 8 p.m.

The High Point Museum Store is seeking weekly or bi-weekly volunteers to assist in the store. Volunteer tasks include welcoming and recording visitors, assisting shoppers, ringing up sales, and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
