YAC Electronic Application

  1. Application Tips

    Good answers to these two questions will typically:

    1. Respond to the question with personal insights or beliefs
    2. Have a focused main idea that is explored fully
    3. Use specific examples and details
    4. be easy to understand

    We predict the answers with good focus and depth will be approximately 150-250 written words or 1.5-3 minutes of recorded video.  Fancy formatting or video editing will not affect our evaluation, so please keep it simple. 

    We will not evaluate answers by how long they are, how many typos they have, or how many times you say "um." However, too many typos or "ums" make an answer hard to understand. 

    You are encouraged to ask a friend, parent or teacher to review your answers and provide feedback. However, submitting this application affirms that the answers are your original work and thinking. 

  2. Your Commitment

    By applying to serve on the City of High Point Youth Advisory Council, 

    I agree that I will: 

    1.  Attend at least five of the six YAC meetings on the following dates: 
        • November 5, 2022
        • December 3, 2022
        • January 7, 2023
        • February 11, 2023
        • March 11, 2023
        • April 21, 2023

    2.  Collaborate on developing a recommendation to be presented to the High Point Human  Relations Commission and City Council. 

    3.  Treat all other YAC members, City staff and guests with curiosity and respect. 

    4.  Abide by the policies and procedures of the City of High Point Municipal Offices.

    Failure to abide by this commitment may result in my dismissal from the YAC.
