North Carolina Landfill Disposal Bans

The North Carolina General Assembly has established disposal bans on the following materials under North Carolina General Statute 130A-309.10. See (f) through (m). More information about how to comply with disposal bans for certain materials is provided through the links below.

• Used oil
• Yard trash
• White goods
• Antifreeze
• Aluminum cans
• Scrap tires
• Lead-acid batteries
• Motor vehicle oil filters
• Plastic bottles
• Wooden pallets
• Oyster shells
• Computer equipment and televisions
• Beverage containers from ABC permit-holders

Banned from disposal in construction and demolition debris landfills:

• Fluorescent lights
• Mercury-containing thermostats
